UK INDUSTRY AND THE NATIONAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL

Tabled by Kelvin Hopkins (Independent) 1 signatures

The motion

That this House notes the recent boost in output and exports by UK manufacturing following on from the welcome and long-needed depreciation of Sterling; recognises that an appropriate international exchange rate is a vital component of an effective industrial strategy; believes that further measures are essential to underpin and sustain an industrial revival for the long-term; and therefore calls on the Government to re-establish the National Economic Development Council to combine the wisdom and skills of employers, trade unions and government representatives in promoting ongoing success across all industries and in all nations and regions of the UK.
