HUBER BALLESTEROS

That this House welcomes the release from prison of political prisoner Huber Ballesteros who was arrested three years ago as he was about to travel to the UK to address the TUC Congress; maintains that the charges against him were concocted and false; congratulates Justice for Colombia for its tireless campaign for his freedom; pays tribute to the many trade unions for their part in Justice for Colombia's campaign and Amnesty International for adopting his case; appreciates the work of the British Embassy in Bogota for monitoring his case and visiting him in prison; hopes that the Amnesty Law which is a part of the Colombia Peace Agreement will be honoured; and urges the release of all political prisoners in Colombia as soon as possible.
