CHANGE OF POLICY ON THE CHILD SUPPORT AGENCY

Tabled by Bob Cryer (Labour) 61 signatures

The motion

That this House condemns the Government for instituting a change of policy under which the Child Support Agency switched from seeking maintenance from irresponsible fathers to extorting large sums of money from those who are meeting their obligations and frequently exceeding them; and condemns the charging of almost one hundred pounds for assessment and collection and deplores the intrusion and lack of privacy in the process which can lead to division and bitterness within families in addition to financial jeopardy and which will induce unemployment to escape financial penalties which are impossible to meet.
