The motion
That this House recognises the beneficial role the co-operative sector plays within the wider economy, in 2017 the sector's economic contribution to the UK economy was £36 billion; notes that the co-operative movement ably demonstrates a better way of doing business, where wealth and power are shared, as almost 14 million people now share in the ownership of the sector; and further notes that with Government support the sector is well placed to grow and seize new opportunities for growth which have arisen as a result of an increased interest in co-operative business structures.
