GIG TERMINOLOGY

That this House pays tribute to the great African American bandleader James Reese Europe who first coined the word gig at the start of the last century, meaning a live musical engagement; regrets the current misappropriation of the term to refer to forms of casual, unsecure employment; and calls on politicians and commentators to use the term as it was originally intended.
