FAIRTRADE FOOTBALLS AT THE HOMELESS WORLD CUP 2017

That this House notes that the Homeless World Cup tournament took place in Oslo from 29 August to 5 September 2017; understands at Bala Sports Ltd, which is based in Glasgow Central constituency, was awarded the contract to provide Fairtrade footballs for the tournament; further understands that Bala Sports Ltd imports footballs which are manufactured in factories in Pakistan which meet Fairtrade ethical standards; believes that international football tournaments should follow the Homeless World Cup's example of using ethically-produced footballs; and calls on FIFA and the SFA to commit to using Fairtrade footballs in all future match fixtures.
