The motion
That this House notes that five people are killed and 66 are seriously injured on British roads every day; further notes an analysis by Brake, the road safety charity, which shows that one in five trauma hospital patients are involved in road collisions; believes that there can be no acceptable level of road casualties; congratulates Brake, together with sponsors Aviva and BriteAngle, on coordinating Road Safety Week, 20 to 26 November 2016, as a focus of efforts to raise awareness of avoidable road-related deaths and serious injury; further notes that thousands of community groups, schools, emergency services, hospitals, voluntary sector organisations and leading companies will be holding events as part of the week to raise awareness about road safety; and notes that the 2017 campaign calls on everyone to slow down to save lives and prevent serious injury on the roads.
