ARREST OF CATALAN POLITICIANS

That this House expresses deep concern at the issuing of arrest warrants by Spain's Supreme Court for 25 Catalan leaders; notes the arrest of Carles Puigdemont, the former leader of Catalonia in Germany and the intention of Clara Ponsanti to hand herself in to police in Scotland this week; further expresses concern about the detention of democratically elected politicians guilty of nothing but peacefully pursuing their ideals; condemns the blatant politicisation of the Spanish judiciary; and urges the Government to condemn the issuing of political arrest warrants by the Spanish Government and to make representations to the Spanish Government to cease this persecution and respect the will of the people of Catalonia.
