NEW HOSPITAL IN HARLOW - A&E SERVICES

Tabled by Robert Halfon (Conservative) 1 signatures

The motion

That this House notes that the emergency department at Chase Farm Hospital in Enfield became an Urgent Care Centre in 2013; further notes that the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital near Welwyn Garden City followed the same path in 2014; recognises the huge pressure that this has created for the emergency department at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow; is aware that the Princess Alexandra has the highest Accident and Emergency use of any hospital in England; notes that the A&E Department sees around 200 to 300 patients a day; notes that this equates to 10 per cent higher than the national average; understands that the development of a new, purpose-built Health Campus could provide the emergency care that is necessary to serve the population of Harlow, the villages and the surrounding areas; and therefore urges the Government to make capital funding available for a new health campus in Harlow.
