CARERS WEEK 11 TO 17 JUNE 2018

That this House supports Carers Week, which seeks to raise awareness of caring and building communities that support the health and wellbeing of carers; acknowledges the tireless work of 6.5 million unpaid carers across the UK, an estimated 788,000 in Scotland, many of whom are under the age of 18; recognises the challenges carers face and the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK; welcomes the improved support offered to carers and young carers in Scotland, and the new Carers Act which extends the rights of carers in Scotland; and encourages employers, public services and local businesses to become more carer friendly.
