DVLA USE OF FREESTYLE LIBRE AND CONTINUOUS GLUCOSE MONITORING

That this House welcomes the DVLA Medical Advisory Panels consideration for drivers with diabetes on insulin to be able to use FreeStyle Libre and Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) devices to monitor their blood glucose levels; appreciates that objections raised by other organisations in this matter were overruled; acknowledges that this will assist people with type 1 diabetes and those with type 2 diabetes on insulin who must monitor their blood glucose levels before driving and every two hours during a long journey so they will not suffer hypoglycaemia that can affect their ability to drive safely; and urges the Government to update guidance immediately so people with diabetes can benefit from this.
