The motion

That this House welcomes the recent £12 million investment made by the Scottish Government in a package of measures to transform maternity and neonatal services across Scotland; notes that this investment will be tested at NHS Ayrshire and Arran's Crosshouse Hospital, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde's Royal Hospital for Children, NHS Lothian's Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, and NHS Fife's Victoria Hospital; recognises that this trial aims to ensure that babies in need of the most specialist care get the best start possible; further recognises that the trial brings forward a range of other initiatives to give mothers and other family members additional support; notes that these measures are being taken to implement the Best Start: The 5 Year Forward Plan for Maternity and Neonatal Care inScotland, a report which contains 76 recommendations focused on putting families at the centre of care so that all women, babies and their families get the highest quality of care according to their needs; and congratulates the efforts of the Scottish Government and all of the healthcare professionals involved in the trial on their continued efforts to ensure the highest quality of care.
