DECLINE OF FREE-TO-USE CASH MACHINES

Tabled by Jonathan Edwards (Independent) 34 signatures

The motion

That this House regrets the rapid decline of free-to-use cash machines across the UK; expresses concern that nearly 1,700 machines started charging for withdrawals in the first three months of 2019, with potentially 13 per cent of free ATMs disappearing in just a few months; acknowledges the disproportionate impact that the erosion of free-to-use cash machines will have on rural, low-income and disabled people; and calls on the UK Government to work with Cardtronics and NoteMachine to stem this trend.
