The motion
That this House recognises the need for frictionless trade in poultry with the EU in order to maintain a secure supply of affordable British food; notes with concern that current economic modelling from the British Poultry Council suggests that there could be significant increases in the costs of production including disruption in trade resulting in the price of breast meat rising by 25 per cent in the event of a no-deal Brexit; and calls on the Government to ensure that British poultry meat businesses continue to experience the easy movement of poultry products between the UK and the EU and that any future trade deals do not compromise our high British food and animal welfare standards.
