The motion
That this House recognises the effort and commitment by over 80 pupils from Tywyn, Gwynedd by striking over the inactivity of UK and Welsh Governments over climate change; regrets that although the Welsh Assembly and UK Government have declared climate emergencies, no emergency measures have been put in place; commends the efforts of Gwynedd Council in their declaration of a Climate Emergency and commitment to becoming a carbon neural county by 2030; notes the efforts of young people far and wide in their effort for action on climate change, such as the likes of Greta Thunberg and Chenoa Roe, organiser of the Youth Strike 4 Climate Tywyn; deeply regrets that inactivity on this matter would be detrimental, with the regional summer mean temperatures in Wales projected to raise from between 0.9C and 4.5C by the 2050s; and urges the UK Government to work with the devolved administrations to put climate change at the top of the political agenda, so action can be taken in the little time the UK has left to address this irrefutably important issue.
