FUTURE OF UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL MONKLANDS

That this House expresses its concern at the decision taken by the Scottish Government’s Cabinet Secretary for Health and Sport, Jeane Freeman, to remove the current University Hospital Monklands site as an option for the location of the new University Hospital Monklands; notes that an independent review was launched by the Scottish Government following concerns regarding NHS Lanarkshire’s initial public consultation on the refurbishment or replacement of University Hospital Monklands; acknowledges that the independent review recommended the need for greater public engagement in any decisions relating to the future of University Hospital Monklands; and urges the Scottish Government to act in line with this recommendation by reinstating the current University Hospital Monklands site as an option for the location of the new University Hospital Monklands.
