The motion

That this House celebrates on 5 November 2019 the 4th Annual Ayurveda Day as espoused by the Government of India in 2016; acknowledges that Ayurveda, an ancient system of natural healthcare, is based on holistic and multi-dimensional approaches to health; recognises that its ethos is closely aligned with those of the World Health Organisation as preventative and curative for some health conditions; notes health means wholeness and that to promote health in the individual and in society a holistic approach is needed, at the heart of which is a comprehensive health education programme; and calls on the Government to integrate elements of Ayurveda into all levels of the National Health Service and provide natural healthcare education programmes in schools and colleges as a basis for improving the social and emotional wellbeing of young people.
