The motion
That this House notes the announcement by the Royal British Legion (RBL) that it is embarking on a consultation process to close four Break Centres across the UK; acknowledges that many users and others have responded to the consultation exercise indicating the considerable benefits offered to armed forces veterans at these centres; calls upon the RBL to take account of the particular circumstances of the Northern Ireland Centre at Portrush, where those who have suffered from physical and mental traumas, many brought on by the specific issues relating to nearly 30 years of violence in Northern Ireland; notes that there is no comparable service available anywhere else on the Island of Ireland; and calls upon the RBL at the conclusion of the consultation exercise, when it indicates a substantial demand for retention of this unique service, to implement that desire.
