Tabled by Mr Andrew Smith (Labour)

The motion
That this House recognises the continued debt crisis which has, for over a decade, undermined development efforts in the Third World; acknowledges the level of public concern as demonstrated by the initiative organised by the Methodist Association of Youth Clubs and Third World First in Trafalgar Square and over 100 other British locations on 16th May; regrets that the Trinidad Terms proposal for debt relief for the poorest countries still has not been implemented in full; and calls on Her Majesty's Government to take the opportunity of the G7 summit in July to reduce levels of debt repayments to an amount commensurate with sustainable development.
