BEHAVIOUR OF POLICE IN MAJORCA

That this House condemns the thoroughly uncivilised, racist and undemocratic behaviour of Spanish police in Majorca who threatened and attacked members of Blackpool Football Club holidaying on the island; draws attention to the fact that Trevor Sinclair was repeatedly beaten whilst in police custody and that another player, Andy Gouck, was threatened with an injection of heroin; believes that such practices are entirely unacceptable in a democracy; and urges the Foreign Secretary to protest to the Spanish Government and to demand compensation and a full investigation of the methods of the Majorcan police.
