The motion
That this House notes the importance of the Marine Stewardship Council's (MSC) fisheries standard in recognising and rewarding efforts to protect the world's oceans and safeguard seafood supplies for the future; further notes the role of the MSC in promoting and encouraging fisheries to meet the highest standard of sustainable fishing practices, supports the MSC blue fish eco-label as a means of informing consumer choice on sustainable seafood options; applauds the MSC's This Is What It Takes campaign, which looks to highlight the importance of fishing communities and encourage discussion on how the UK can ensure that fish stocks are protected for future generations, supported by healthy marine habitats, helping secure fishing as a livelihood and providing sustainable seafood for a growing population; and calls on the Government as well as hon. Members to work together to secure the long-term health of the marine environment in the UK.
