Councillor Peter Johnson

That this House commends Cllr Peter Johnston on his contribution to Local Government spanning 35 years; notes that Mr Johnston was an exemplary councillor; recognises the dedication and devotion he showed in representing his constituents; expresses gratitude, on behalf of the generations of indebted, not only in his own ward of Livingston South but in the wider West Lothian community; thanks him for his leadership of the Council on two separate occasions during very challenging times; further commends his courage and determination after a major illness; further thanks him for the huge contribution he made to the Health Service, serving on the NHS Board and Health Improvement Scotland; and applauds his leadership and his impressive command of his role as COSLA Health and Care Spokesperson and finally wishes him a long and happy retirement.
