The future of regional connectivity

The motion

That this House expresses concern at the future of regional connectivity in the wake of the collapse of Flybe and the impact of the covid-19 pandemic; notes that regional airports saw up to 90 per cent of flights cancelled following the withdrawal of Flybe operations; understands that the pandemic has further strained the operations of regional airports across the UK; appreciates the vital role played by regional airports in the economic and cultural lives of the areas they serve; welcomes the decision by the Scottish Government to provide 100 per cent business rates relief to the aviation sector; and calls on the UK Government to support the wider aviation sector and work urgently on a strategic plan to sustain and improve regional connectivity in the aftermath of the covid-19 pandemic.
