Launch of Freeview Accessible TV Guide

That this House commends the launch of Freeview’s Accessible TV Guide on Channel 555; recognises that this Guide is a key step towards the digital inclusion of people with disabilities, making programmes accessible to those with sight and hearing impairments; notes that this Guide meets all of OFCOMs Electronic Programme Guide requirements for disability inclusion such as incorporating a high contrast user interface, screen magnification and text to speech functionality that allow adaptation to individual requirements; and highlights the fact that this Guide has been developed in consultation with consumer groups and disability advocacy organisations and is available for free to all UK television users.
