The motion
That this House congratulates all those involved in the launch of Fatma's Waltz, a specially-composed piece of music, performed and recorded by 28 artists from Scotland and around the world, with the aim of raising over £5000 for the Glasgow-based Beatson Cancer Charity; notes that the unique and uplifting piece was written by Scottish traditional musician Adam Sutherland, inspired by the experience of his student Fatma Neilson who has bravely fought cancer and been supported in her fight by the services of the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre and its associated Charity; thanks the musicians who gave freely of their time to make audio and video recordings of their parts for the performance, and producers Marc Clements who mixed the audio and Paul Jennings who produced the video, despite the economic hardships caused by coronavirus; further notes that the entire performance has been produced using remote and virtual technology due to coronavirus restrictions; and wishes the team behind the project all the best in reaching and exceeding their fundraising target.
