Tabled by Tim Farron (Liberal Democrat) 4 signatures

The motion

That this House is concerned by the impact of Covid-19 on leisure services; believes a thriving leisure industry is critical to improving the physical and economic health of communities in the Covid-19 recovery effort; notes that leisure services relieve pressure on the NHS and social care systems; commends the Government for providing an estimated £116 million of support through the National Leisure Recovery Fund; notes, however, that District Council leisure centres lost £411 million of their average annual income in 2020; urges a further financial rescue package to ensure leisure centres survive well beyond the Covid-19 crisis; and asks that District Councils are represented on the Department for Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport’s recreation and leisure Covid-19 roadmap taskforce.
