HELICOPTER LANDING SHIP AND AMPHIBIOUS FORCES

The motion
That this House, aware of the importance of amphibious forces in the defence of this country and in meeting the commitments to NATO, the United Nations and the European Community, congratulates Her Majesty's Government on confirming that an order will be placed for a helicopter landing ship; & urges Her Majesty's Government to place orders for the replacements for the assault ships 'Fearless' and 'Intrepid' without further delay so that the efficiency and capability of the Untied Kingdom's amphibious forces will be maintained.
