The motion
That this House acknowledges the APPG on North Korea's report into human rights abuses from 2014 to 2021; notes that the report builds on the UN's landmark 2014 Commission of Inquiry into human rights in North Korea; regrets that the situation of human rights in North Korea has not improved since the UN Commission of inquiry; notes that the report found evidence of North Korean officials being involved in crimes against humanity including murder, torture, sexual and gender-based violence, slavery, and persecution based on religion or belief, and that the report suggests that the treatment of Christians, half-Chinese children, and the hostile group in North Korea may meet the legal definition of genocide; and urges the Government to implement the recommendations of the report and to actively engage in the dire human rights situation in North Korea using all available avenues.
