The motion
That this House congratulates Springbank Distillery, Campbeltown, and its parent company J&A Mitchell & Co Ltd on its plans to adapt their product packaging and review their working processes so as to minimise their impact on the environment; notes that Springbank Distillery’s core whisky products will now be sold without any unnecessary external packaging such as a cardboard box or tube; further notes that the Distillery will also be reviewing the environmental impact of their operations, focusing on switching from red diesel to a less polluting gas and reducing water consumption; salutes the efforts of Springbank Distillery to recognise and address the climate crisis and the environmental impact of their products, particularly in the lead up to the COP26 conference in Glasgow next month; and urges other distilleries to follow the example of Springbank in addressing the impact of their production processes and packaging on the environment.
