The motion

That this House recognises the life of Bruce McFee, councillor, MSP, and campaigner following his recent death at the age of 60; notes his long-standing campaigning for Scottish independence over many decades starting with his joining the SNP at the age of 17; recalls his work in subsequent years as a stalwart of the party within Renfrewshire and as a key organiser across the area; recognises his electoral success as both a councillor and an MSP, including receiving over 75 per cent of the vote in his Renfrew District Council ward of Kilbarchan, and his subsequent election as MSP for the West of Scotland in 2003; further notes that this unprecedented success came at a time when success for other pro-independence campaigners was few and far between; acknowledges his tireless efforts in campaigning for and securing the use of advanced bio-mechanical rehabilitation in the UK to help children such as his son Marten, who lived with cerebral palsy until his tragic death in 2015; and conveys its sympathies to his wife, Iris, his surviving son Erik, and to all who knew and cherished Bruce throughout his life.
