Use of Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil

That this House recognises the harm that poor air quality has on the health of everyone in the United Kingdom; notes the Government’s target to reach net zero emissions by 2050; further notes the importance of evidence-based policy in achieving this target; understands that Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) fuel can reduce carbon emissions on heavy goods vehicles by an average of 90%; notes with concern that HVO is not being adopted more widely and that HVO fuel has a more expensive pump price than diesel fuel; suggests that the Treasury should implement an HVO rebate scheme to increase the usage of HVO fuel; further notes that this would mollify the pressure on consumer struggling with high costs for fuel and have a significant positive impact on our environment.
