ASSASSINATION OF PRESIDENT PREMADASA OF SRI LANKA

That this House is greatly shocked and horrified at the news of the assassination of President Ranasinghe Premadasa, who was a distinguished parliamentarian and a hard working and progressive leader; is gravely concerned at the possible threat posed to the old and established democracy of Sri Lanka; urges and hopes that the terrorists will never be allowed to undermine its democractic freedom and economic development; and offers its wholehearted support to the citizens of Sri Lanka whose strength, friendliness and toleration will surely continue to keep democracy flourishing.
