CONDUCT OF HM OPPOSITION (No. 2)

The motion

That this House condemns the action taken on Thursday 10th March by honourable Members from the Labour benches in seeking to defeat rating valuation orders relating to Scottish industry which, had they been successful, would have raised substantially costs to Scottish businesses resulting in job losses, lost investment, lost opportunities and which would have greatly affected business confidence in Scotland; is further concerned that when these matters were discussed in committee the honourable Member for Glasgow, Maryhill gave them her full support which was obviously overruled by a more senior member of Her Majesty's Opposition; and calls upon the Shadow Secretary of State for Scotland, the honourable Member for Monklands West, to make an early statement on who decides, and who, decided, Labour Party policy on this matter.
