The motion
That this House notes the growing problem of rural unemployment and the alarming rate of job losses in agriculture, exacerbated by the policy of setting aside land; is concerned that international negotiations on agricultural commodities may increase the proportion of land set-aside in the EC; favours agricultural reforms which reduce the intensity of production over the whole of the farmed landscape; and urges Her Majesty's Government to promote environmentally-sensitive and employment generating farming methods domestically and through further Common Agricultural Policy reforms.
