The motion
That this House congratulates Bwyd Powys Food on being awarded the Sustainable Food Places Bronze Award; recognises that this national, evidence-based accolade highlights the partnership’s outstanding work to promote healthy, sustainable and local food across Powys; commends its efforts to address food poverty, diet-related ill-health, the challenges faced by family farms and the decline of independent food retailers; notes the strength of the partnership hosted by Cultivate and including Powys County Council, Powys Teaching Health Board, Social Farms and Gardens, Our Food 1200, Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, Black Mountains College, Natural Resources Wales, Neath Port Talbot Group of Colleges and Mach Maethlon; further recognises the significant progress already achieved through the Powys Food Strategy and Action Plan 2024–2028, including participation in the Welsh Veg in Schools programme, support for new entrant farmers through the Future Farms project, the launch of the Powys Food Map, and the delivery of community-centred initiatives such as subsidised veg boxes and cooking classes; and commends Bwyd Powys Food for its leadership in driving positive food system change and for contributing to a growing Good Food Movement across Powys and the wider UK.
