Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund’s Wee Box Appeal 2026

That this House welcomes the Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund’s (SCIAF) 2026 Wee Box Appeal; understands that this year’s Wee Box Appeal highlights SCIAF’s work in Ethiopia to support women, young girls and boys who walk for hours under the scorching sun just to find water, risking their safety as they search remote, unsafe places; notes that without water nearby, they are trapped in a cycle of poverty, spending their days collecting water instead of going to school or caring for themselves; further understands that communities suffer too, children miss lessons, disease spreads, livelihoods collapse, and hope withers and dies; further notes that despite decades of progress, recent war has torn families apart, extreme weather has devastated the landscapes and livelihoods; and further notes that the Wee Box appeal has become an established part of the work of SCIAF and a way in which church congregations in Scotland can show their solidarity with their brothers and sisters across the world.
