The motion
That this House celebrates the pioneering work of small-scale hydropower schemes such as Coniston Hydro; recognises that current market arrangements fail to value local renewable generation fairly; welcomes the forthcoming Local Power Plan and its alignment with local energy-matching models; notes the role of Balancing and Settlement Code modification P441 in enabling transparent local trading; and further recognises that these reforms would allow households and schools to buy power directly from local, renewable sources and supporting local businesses in the process; and urges the Government to support urgent approval of P441 to ensure fair routes to market and protect vital community energy assets.
