Tabled by Zöe Franklin (Liberal Democrat) 9 signatures

The motion

That this House expresses concern at proposed reductions to Short Breaks provision for disabled children in Surrey; notes the decision to end contracts with Crossroads Care Surrey for carer support services and the wider changes to support available to carers in the county; recognises that these changes come at a time of rising demand and increasing numbers of children with Education, Health and Care Plans; acknowledges the vital role of respite care and wider support services in sustaining families and preventing crisis; further notes concerns about the cumulative impact of these changes on carers and families, particularly those supporting children with complex needs or requiring emergency and end of life support; and calls on Surrey County Council and the Government to ensure that sufficient support and resources are available to meet the needs of carers and disabled children.
