55th anniversary of 2nd Banbridge Beaver Scout Colony

The motion
That this House congratulates the 2nd Banbridge Beaver Scout Colony, based at Holy Trinity Church, Banbridge, on the celebration of its 55th anniversary; notes that the Colony was established in September 1970, making it one of the earliest Beaver Scout Colonies in Northern Ireland; recognises the vision and dedication of its founding leaders, Irene McMaster and Lauretta Harrison, and the commitment of the many volunteers who have nurtured generations of young people over the past five and a half decades; pays particular tribute to Edith McClimonds for her outstanding service since 1979, including as Beaver Scout Leader since 1988, and for the positive influence she has had on countless young people and their families; further recognises the invaluable contribution of the current leadership team, including Freda Graham, Carol Clarke, Anna Mathers, Emma McNiece, Ethan Topley and Jamie Clarke; acknowledges that the Colony has helped thousands of children develop confidence, resilience, teamwork and lifelong skills, with many former members going on to make significant contributions to their communities and professions; commends the organisers of the 55th anniversary exhibition celebrating the Colony’s rich history; recognises the enduring value of Scouting in shaping active citizens and strengthening communities; and wishes everyone associated with the 2nd Banbridge Beaver Scout Colony every success as it continues to inspire future generations.
