The motion
That this House condemns the Iranian government's involvement in the assassination of its opponents abroad, its instigation of terrorist attacks on the citizens of other countries, and the incitement to murder of a British citizen, Mr Salman Rushdie; welcomes the report by the British Parliamentary Human Rights Group 'The Tehran Murder Machine', which describes over 100 assassination attempts on the lives of dissidents, leaving almost 300 people dead or injured in 18 countries over the past 15 years, half of which have occurred since President Rafsanjani came into office less than five years ago; and calls on Her Majesty's Government to increase the efforts already being made, with the United Kingdom's partners in the European Union and the United Nations, to combat Iranian terrorism and to bring the perpetrators to justice.
