CONDUCT OF THE HON MEMBER FOR CHRISTCHURCH

Tabled by Lady Olga Maitland (Conservative) 20 signatures

The motion

That this House deplores the smear and innuendo employed by the Liberal Democrats over the provision of aid by the Overseas Development Administration to Malaysia; notes that the actions of the honourable Member for Christchurch and her Party have seriously jeopardised Britain's excellent trading relations with Malaysia; further notes that one of the companies which could suffer from a fall in defence exports is Siemens-Plessey Defence Systems which employs 1,300 people in Christchurch; thinks that the honourable Member for Christchurch should stop her posturing on morality in public life and acknowledge that her Party's rash words have endangered the jobs of hundreds of her constituents; feels sorry for the people of Christchurch who do not have an MP who puts their interests above cheap political point-scoring; and calls upon the honourable Member for Christchurch to apologise to her constituents for her Party's actions and to stop attacking Britain's trading partners and the jobs they create for this country.
