The motion
That this House deplores the sex education lessons conducted at the Highfield Primary School, Shadwell, Leeds; notes that sex education is now a matter for school governors, and that in this case the governors failed to follow advice offered them by Leeds Local Education Authority, and instead accepted the recommendation of the Chair of Governors, former Conservative councillor Anne O'Brien, to use the services of a nurse, in the employment of Leeds Community Health Trust, with wholly unacceptable consequences; and calls upon the Secretary of State for Education to disown the actions of Anne O'Brien and to improve the training of Conservative school governors so that they may more probably avoid such serious errors in future.
