To ask the Scottish Executive what proportion of school-age children received free school meals in May (a) 1999 and (b) 2011 or according to the latest published data.
Answer · Michael Russell: 16.2 per cent of all pupils present on the annual school meal survey day in January 1999, took a free school meal. This compares to 15.7 per cent of all pupils present on the annual school meal survey day in February 2012.

Answer · Richard Lochhead: Marine Scotland will transfer the European Fisheries Fund Axis 4 funding quarterly in arrears based on expenditure accrued, as agreed with each participating local authority. I have recently signed off on the legal vehicle for this arrangement.
