To ask the Scottish Government whether revisions to the M8 M73 M74 Motorway Improvements project lighting plans have been considered and, if so, what impact proposed revisions will have on (a) cost and (b) public safety.

Answer · Keith Brown: The contract for the Design, Build, Finance and Operation of the M8 M73 M74 Motorway Improvements project was awarded to Scottish Roads Partnership in February 2014. There have been no revisions to contractual requirements for lighting on the project.

To ask the Scottish Government whether the anticipated costs of the M8 M73 M74 Motorway Improvements project have risen and whether delayed completion will result in further increases in costs and penalties for the contractor.

Answer · Keith Brown: The anticipated cost of the M8 M73 M74 Motorway Improvements project remains at the £500 million I announced in February 2014. Under the terms of the contract, no payments are made until the roads are open to the public.
