What the petition asks
The figures quoted, pre tax, of £30,000 outside and £40,000 inside London, do not reflect the true cost of living especially within the housing and rental markets in London and the rest of the UK. This is yet another form of taxation using local authorities to act as tax collectors instead of HMRC.
The Chancellor has ignored the 2013 Consultation Paper, halving the recommended earnings threshold for those living in Local Authority and Housing Association accommodation.

The lack of affordable housing is caused by foreign investors buying up property only to leave it empty thereby creating a shortage of housing stock which in turn artificially inflates prices.
