What the petition asks
This issue has been brought to the fore due to recent publicity over British Dairy farmers being paid less to produce milk than it costs. However, the issue is wider than that, native fruit and veg in local supermarkets can be difficult to find, support 'BUY BRITISH'.
In supporting British manufacture and agriculture, we will support job preservaion and creation, increase our GDP, import less and produce more. A positive knock on effect of reducing EEA haulage on our roads carrying their fresh produce.
Supermarkets applying unfair contracts on suppliers should be outlawed, as they do not allow UK farmers and food producers to make reasonable profits on their goods. Retailer margins should not be permitted to eclipse producer margins for UK goods.
