To fund the upgrade on the Midland Main Line - making trains to Notts faster.

What the petition asks

THOUSANDS of frustrated rail passengers are waiting to find out when they can catch faster trains from Nottingham to London.
A £200 million plan, earmarked by the Government in 2010 to build a more modern track, increase speed limits and upgrade signals, is now being reviewed.

In June Patrick McLoughlin announced that a £1.1billion scheme to electrify the line had been “paused”.

But a previously approved £200m towards Midland Main Line improvements must now be made. It will better travel times from Nottingham to London by 13 minutes.
So today The Nottingham Post has teamed up with Nottinghamshire County Council to launch a Fast Track to Notts campaign demanding the Main Line is improved.

It will also bring huge economic benefits to the East Midlands.
