What the petition asks
Sir Kier Starmer (Former Director of Public Prosecutions) believes that with the right safeguards in place, people should be able to receive help taking their lives by someone acting out of compassion. The law should be changed to allow assisted dying.
From the moment of mum’s diagnosis, she fought bravely, but thereafter her health deteriorated rapidly with rapid metastasis (spread of cancer to other parts of the body) raising more complications, more pain, more medication, less independence, less quality of life and loss of dignity. On many occasions my mum asked me to take her to Dignitas and if I had foreseen the immense suffering that she went through in the last six months of her life I definitely would have followed her wishes.
