What the petition asks
People are dying on beaches in the European Union. Britain's finest times in history have been when we helped people in desperate need. We have the skills and resources to help. Yet we sit still.
There are other long term solutions required, but emergency measures are required now.

Please take the lead in the world.
Please commit immediately resources, personnel, funding and expertise needed to achieve a rapid, safe, trusted and lawful route for asylum seekers to enter the EU, removing money from people smugglers.
Please press to find a longer-term pan-EU solution that fully adheres to the 1951 Refugee Convention and 1967 Protocol - for which Britain played a key role in the drafting.
Please stop people from dying through desperation.
Please. It is within your power.
