Bring back national service

Closed 55 signatures

What the petition asks

Discipline, loyalty, honour and respect all have different meanings to the youth of today.
With gangs on the street, disrespect to our pensioners unemployment and immigration bring back national service.
Make it law for anyone wishing to live in the UK to automatically have national service.

The National Service (Armed Forces) Act 1939 was enacted by parliament on 3rd September 1939 when the UK declared war on Germany at the start of the Second World War.
It enforced full conscription on all males between 18 and 41 and all females 20 to 30 years old who were residents in the UK.
It continued in a modified form in peacetime by the National service Act 1948.
The only exceptions were those medically unfit, blind, disabled or with mental disorders.
Call-ups ended on 31 December 1960.
